My artist friend Diana Kohne (who I interviewed a few years ago on this blog), has just launched a great new way to connect local artists with people who want to collect art, but aren't sure where to start. It's called Art Cricket LA and I just wanted to give her a shout out here, as I think it's a great site for both artists and collectors alike!
In brief, it's a highly personalized service that includes taking a quiz to find out your art style, being matched up with one or several local artists who make work that fits your tastes, and art that is hand delivered to your doorstep. I think the more personal, one-on-one approach is really appealing, and I also think that local artists will appreciate the emphasis on connecting to interested buyers who live in the area. I know that I, for one, enjoy connecting to local people through my art, and imagine other artists would feel the same. Plus, it's a great way to move your work beyond gallery walls.
So, you can start by checking out her site if you're an artist in LA and have work you'd like to sell, or if you're just interested in finding some great, affordable work by local artists. (You can take the quiz here.)
And, you can also help them get off the ground by contributing to their crowdfunding goal at: http://www.seedkicks.com/P5507/artcricketla
