I am sitting here this morning feeling really grateful for the rich friendships in my life. Friendships come in all forms, new and old, but some of the ones I'm pondering today are those precious long-term ones, friendships that endure through the years and grow in richness with the history.
Many of these particular kinds of friendships in my life have been maintained through writing. Writing is one of my favorite ways to communicate with people, I suppose because it comes so naturally to me. Some of my dearest friendships have been maintained this way....a committed writing back and forth through the years, sharing feelings, thoughts, triumphs, loss, encouragement through the good and bad, acceptance, love. I'm so grateful for these people in my life...for what we've shared, for the closeness we can feel despite the distance, for the loyalty and comradeship given, no matter the miles that separate us or the differing seasons of life we pass through.
For me, love comes through words. And written words are ones I can savor long after the exchange has passed. They have the ability to provide a tangible piece of the other...a reflection of their presence and the gifts they offer.
What a wonderful post! I, too, appreciate written words between friends. A written exchange seems to offer an additional dimension to a friendship.
I too treasure the connection that writing gives to a friendship across the miles. I treasure you!
